Susan asks…
i live in pa, can i get money for plastic bottles by taking them to a state that gives cash for recycling?
if you live in pa could you still take plastic bottles to a state that offers cash back and benefit from that states program?
also in those states do they take any bottles, or just those that are marked with their state on the label? for ex: would michigan take bottles that are only marked NY and ME?
The Expert answers:
If the state is marked on the bottle, they will most likely take it. If you get caught though you will get a large fine and no $$. We pay the 5c to the store when we buy it, then get the 5c back when we return it. If you’re bringing in cans from another state where the 5c isn’t paid then someone has to make up the difference somewhere.
Charles asks…
Where can I get cash for recycling old computers & monitors?
In Kentucky.
The Expert answers:
There is no place that I know of that pays for “techno trash”. However you are doing the planet and everyone else a great service by using a recyling place either arranged by your town or such as “CRT recycling” located on East Ashland in Brocton MA. If you have enough stuff to make the trip to your home feasible or they have a scheduled pickup in your area, then they will pick the stuff up for free. I believe you can get a TAX deduction for making the deposit with them. They take most electronic stuff, but see their website or call them to make sure.
Contact info:
175 East Ashland Street Brockton, Massachusetts 02302
PH# 1 (800) 944-7019 FAX (508) 427-9311
I have included a second link that looks interesting for busiinesses that generate or turn over a lot of techno junk as they put it, but did not check the particulars.

Where can I recycle and cash-in non-bottle plastics?
I live in San Diego. I have amassed a collection of clear plastic bottles and other non-bottle shaped plastics. I wanted to redeem them for cash, but my local recycling plant says they only accept “things you can drink out of”. I didn’t think it worked that way, because the non-bottle shaped stuff looks like its made of the same material as the bottles, and they have the recyce symbol on them as well. So, are thee recycling plants around that accept a greater variety of recyclables?
The Expert answers:
At your local bank

recycling for cash?
I recently read in a magazine that i can recycle paper, bottles, and other things and turn them in for cash. The article didn’t really tell me how to go about doing this
does anyone know how or where i can turn that stuff in for money? I live in PA if that makes a difference
please and thank you!
The Expert answers:
There are a couple of ways that you can get cash to recycle.
First, in some states, there is a per-can or per-bottle deposit. In these states, you pay a few cents extra at the supermarket for each can or bottle you buy, and you get these few cents back when you return the can or bottle back to the store. This reduces litter, because fewer bottles and cans are tossed outside. And the ones that are, are collected by people and returned for the extra cash. Unfortunately for you, Pennsylvania is not one of those states.
The other way is to separate out the paper, glass and plastic by type and color, and sell it by the ton. Prices for these materials run between $10 and $100 per ton, but glass needs to separated by color, plastic by type and color, etc.
Unless you have large quantities of paper, plastic or glass to sell, it is difficult to make it worth your time to sell them. Some metals, like copper or aluminum, can be worth more money. But most consumers don’t have a whole lot of copper or aluminum waste.
Sorry. Good luck.

Cell Phone Recycling For Cash?
Where can I do my bit for the environment and earn some bucks as well?
The Expert answers:
If your cell phone’s got some life in it, try putting it up for auction on eBay. That way, you get some cash plus someone else for whom a cell phone is a necessity / luxury might just find your offer useful.
But if you’re looking to turn this into a business of sorts, one place to check is this site: http://urltea.com/1gwo
It might be a green thing to do for a part-time venture.

Cash for Cans program in Georgia?
Is there a Cash for Cans program near Duluth, Georgia? I think it would be a good idea for my family to start recycling and what better incentive then some cash? Are there any programs that will give cash for recycled cans preferably near Duluth, Georgia?
The Expert answers:
There are recycle centers all over the city. Aluminum cans pay about 74 cents a pound. Do you know how many cans it takes to get one pound of aluminum? Appoximately 30 – 40 cans. It would take over 250 cans for you to earn $5.00
Not a huge motivator in my opinion.
