Betty asks…

Downloadable recycle bin icons?

I have some recycle bin icons I want to use as my new icons on my desktop. I downloaded them like it told me but they are downloaded as pngs and they don’t work as the icons. Can someone tell me how to make them work as the icons?

The Expert answers:

Go to http://images.google.com
search for this
recycle bin
Select “small images” in the blue bar that says Images showing
Browse and find one you like
Then right click on it, click Save Picture (or Image) as
Save it somewhere you can find it again.

Oops, you were asking for icons. Sorry.
That google search would be this
filetype:ico recycle bin

Sorry, I tried my own suggestion, and it didn’t work.
Try this:

Donna asks…

How do i get my recycle bin back?

Well
i acidently delte my recycle bin while i was deleting the whole stuff
could u please tell me how i goin to get the recycle bin back?

The Expert answers:

Windows XP

(1) Right-click on your desktop.
(2) Point to “New”. Then select “Folder” to create a new folder.
(3) Name the new folder
“Recycle Bin.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}”.

Whoops Yahoo tends to truncate things so I’m not sure how to give you that except email me.

To resolve this issue in Windows Vista, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, and then click Change desktop icons.
3. Click to select the Recycle Bin check box, and then click OK.

Hey if you used a specific program to delete the recycle bin that would be helpful to know.

Chris asks…

recycle bin does not find .how can i find it?

recycle bin is not in desk top

The Expert answers:

The actual Recycle Bin, if you did delete it from Windows Explorer, should regenerate when you restart the machine. If you’ve just lost the icon from the desktop, here’s how to get that back:

For Vista (and maybe W7):

1.Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize.
2.Click the Change Desktop Icons entry in the left pane.
3.Check the Recycle Bin checkbox.
4.Click OK.

That should do it for Vista. With Windows XP:

There may be a more direct way, but here’s the only one I know of:

1.Download and install a freebie from Microsoft called TweakUI (see below for the URL). Install it on the desktop. It happens to be a nice tool, by the way.
2.Run it.
3.Click the Desktop entry on the left.
4.On the right, a series of check boxes for desktop icons should appear. The Recycle Bin should be one of them. Click it.
5.Click OK.

That should do it for XP.

Finding files in $recycle.bin?

The Expert answers:

Check this out.

Recuva (pronounced “recover”) is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses.
