Recycling Around the world… HELP!?
Okay, so I’m doing a school project about recycling around the world. Are there any websites that tell you specific facts about different continents that recycle? For example, I need recycling facts for Europe and Asia. I want to know how much they recycle each year, and what else they do to help or not help.
Thanks so much!

How should I begin my persuasive speech about recycling?
I’m giving a speech persuading people to recycle. I need an “attention-getter” to start off with to get the audience to pay attention. I was thinking of collecting some recyclable items that were found in the trash or as litter and dumping all of them out on the table to begin. Then I would say something like if all of these items were recycled they could have powered a television for 6 hours or (insert another fact.) Suggestions please! Thanks!

You need a hook. Try using an anecdote or quote. It should be interesting and usually works 😉

Today our Recycle Cart was emptied by Curb Tender not by Recycling What reason for this?
Usually, Curb Tender automatically empties regular trash, not recycle material. But this morning as I watched, the automated arm pick up the blue recyclables I realized they in fact did not also pick up our regular trash but drove off only with the stuff we put out for recycling every week.
The Expert answers:
The trash collectors work for the city and are union members. They don’t have to do the job right they just have to show up on time, pretend to work and pay their union dues to keep their high paying jobs.
Welcome to the wonderful world of public unions. Where you pay them extra to screw up the job. But don’t worry. One day they will retire and you get to pay them for not working at all.

How does recycling stop help stop global warming????????
I’m starting a recycling program at my school and one of my arguments is that recycling helps stop harmfull affects of global warming but i’m not really sure how to show the info i found to a high school and still keep them not only awake but also intrested in the topic. Does any one have and kool facts that might catch teenages and students eye on this topic?
The Expert answers:
It creates less pollution to recycle an item than it does to create something from scratch. Thsi is because mostly – the processes that involve making something from scratch releases more CO2 than the processes involved in recycling.
Cheers.

How does one contact Yahoo about non-recognition of password. I have already done two hours of recycling thro?
Have already spent two hours being recycled through your aide memoire system for forgotten password recovery. Your prompt response will be appreciated. AOL have a telephone number, not a call centre, which handles problems like these.
So far, the Yahoo operation does not appear to be very satisfactory. In fact, it’s disappointing. H.A.Gavin(hgsmanser)

Click on the
‘Forget your ‘ID’ or password?’ link
at the Yahoo sign in page
or a similar link in the sign-in page of the mail service you use.
This will send your password to your alternate E-mail account.
Chris asks…
If I don’t believe in global warming, but agree with recycling etc, shall I just go along with the concensus
I do approve of recycling and improving our treatment of the environment and how we live. I think fear of a vengefull ‘Earth God’ that we have to sacrifice our carbon offsets and ‘not anger lest he smite us’ is a good incentive for us all to ‘straighten up and fly right’ literally.
But the solar activity evidence, and the lack of heating of the troposphere, the fact that they used to grow grapes in greenland in the middle ages, make me feel uncertain about the links with manmade global warming.
Should I just go along with it? at least we will get a better planet in the short term out of it, even if we aren’t REALLY saving the planet by driving less right?
The Expert answers:
There is no harm done by going with the “global warming” belief. If they are wrong – you helped to make th earth last longer due to saving energy and keeping it green and clean.
On the other hand, if they are right, it may already be too late to do much about it. But I would still do my best to shrink my carbon footprint.
The earth is an amazing place and we should respect it as such. I drive my family nuts by checking their trash for recycables
We can do a whole lot better – europe and japan are already decades ahead of us in terms of energy efficiency.
Escalators don’t run if no one is on them. You pay for grocery bags but most people have reusble bags. Cars have 1 liter engines
and people have mass transit – suitable for them since thei don’t hav spread out suburbs. Once gas costs $6/gallon here people will finally start thinking of what they are wasting.
